Battery is still a bit more than half full with: 4 hours 36 mins usage 1 day 4 hours standby 3G has been on throughout. Everything else off apart from location services. All the usage consisted of around an hour and a half music through headphones, an hour text messaging and the rest browsing the net with 3G and mostly WiFi. IMO, brightness is the biggest drainer. Reduced my brightness down to about a quarter way full.

(lol) That said, I don't have any recommendation. =P You could take the risk with another iPhone but given what you have gone through (and your usual bad luck with returns) I'd stick with it at this point.
