Go to the system preferences and go to “Appearance” make sure “Double-click a windows title bar…” is checked.

I would say either reinstall Snow Leopard again. There have been times where I install Snow Leopard once and have to reinstall it again but it somehow did not install correctly (stuff was buggy). You can always go to a Genius Bar and have them see what is going on. Maybe then they can put it in their system as a software bug and in the future maybe patch it up.

i have a same problem as david,
used to be no problem to minimize window by double tapping on it, but since hd reformat and clean install of snow leopard it isn’t working anymore…
all up to date..
any ideas?

So you are saying you are not able to minimize windows by double-clicking them at the top with your new Macbook Pro? That is definitely weird. It should work and you shouldn’t have to enable anything. I would try and take it to a Genius at an Apple store. If that is not an option then I would do a clean reinstall of the operating system.

For me, this has only happened a few times and it hasn’t happened again since I posted the article on the site. Good luck figuring it though. I am pretty sure it’s just a software issue.

I have a comment about windows and minimizing them on my Mac.

I have been able to double click at the top of a document or window on my computer, and it will do the same thing as clicking the little yellow “minimize button” at the top left of the window. I restore it to the desktop by going to the dock and clicking on it.

I bought a new MacBook Pro this week, and I have not discovered a way to make this happen. I looked in Preferences. I searched using keywords such as “minimize windows by clicking,” and I have had no luck.

Do you know what I might be able to do?
